Avelar Responds to Budget Address, Outlines Priorities
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — In response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address, state Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, released the following statement:
“Today’s address is just the first step in developing a responsible budget that prioritizes the programs and services our community needs most. Though Illinois has made great strides in restoring our fiscal stability and funding key resources, we still have much to do to support working families and support vulnerable populations across the state.
“My unwavering commitment to being a voice for our community is stronger than ever. I plan on thoroughly reviewing the budget, as well as meeting with local leaders and stakeholders to ensure our community’s needs and priorities are being met. We must continue to fund critical services like education, health care and resources for seniors, as well as restore Illinois’ fiscal house so that our state is strong for generations to come.
“We have many hard decisions to make these next few months, but I am confident that with continued hard work and collaboration, our future remains bright. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft a responsible budget that improves the lives of all Illinoisans.”
