Avelar Prioritizes Working Families, Health Care Access in Second Term

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — State Rep. Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, D-Bolingbrook, issued the following statement Wednesday after taking office for her second term in the Illinois House:

“I am immensely thankful to my neighbors for entrusting me to represent our community in Springfield once again and I vow to do so with our shared values and goals in mind. Your trust means a great deal to me, and I promise to serve our community to the best of my ability. During my time in the office, I have witnessed the resilience and strength of our community and I promise to serve with the same honor and integrity I see each day.

“I am motivated by working families who work tirelessly to provide their families with food and health care services. They are who I am thinking of when passing legislation to ease their financial burdens put on by inflation and high health care costs. That is why I believe investing in families means expanding access to affordable health care and reducing the increasing costs of prescription drugs.

“Please remember that I welcome feedback and or any legislative ideas you may have. Know that your input is important to me. As we move into a new session, I look forward to working with my colleagues and across the aisle to pass legislation to help families across the state.”
